Becoming a Cartoonist

Becoming a cartoonoist started with a statement: “I’m going to be a cartoonist.”

But then I heard, “You’ll never support yourself drawing silly pictures.”

Do all dads say that?

ALL DADS EVERYWHERE

“You’re not a kid anymore — get a job.”

So I gave up and got a job but this job – in staffing – turned out to be the perfect experience for a career in cartooning, because people are hilarious.

THE HR DEPARTMENT

Finally, it was time to move. I sold my company and was free to start my real career.

“Hello, I’m Ruthi and a cartoonist.”
